Kanji is a good candidate when it comes to understanding her struggles, but I feel he isn’t ‘competent’ when it comes to her specific interests and would have trouble with the more intellectual side of Naoto. With Naoto, despite her awesomeness, I feel she needs a partner who really gets her, supports her and possibly shares her interest to have a happy relationship. Chie has some insecurities with her femininity, but she is super endearing and popular both amongst the fanbase and in-universe, and I think she would handle a relationship well.
Meanwhile, I feel as if Yukiko and Rise, if they so wanted to, could land practically any guy they really wanted to be with. With her general ‘cool and hyper intelligent’ personality, as well as her insecurities she has previously displayed with her gender, I’d imagine Naoto might have trouble finding a partner she would work well with. Lastly, I feel that of all the characters you have the option of romancing, Naoto is the one who would recieve the most from such a relationship compared to the other girls. I think she’s awesome, but she doesn’t feel ‘fake’ either, she feels like a person that could really exist, which is something Persona 4 really nails with most of its characters. She is also not ‘too perfect’, as these types of characters can tend to be, however, as she has a legitimate struggle in dealing with her emotional issues, which I feel leads to a really arc in her social link. On the other hand, Naoto is very collected and competent in most situations, which I personally feel is pretty attractive. Chie has her martial arts which are really cool, but she tends to act a little headstrong and a little goofy in normal situation, which I find endearing but not necessarily cool.
For me, it is Naoto, and it’s mostly based around one fact: I simply thinks she’s cool.
